From the workshops of Biel to manufacturing facilities on four continents, MIKRON MILL has remained at the frontier of precision machining.

2025 - MIKRON MILL joins UNITED MACHINING SOLUTIONS

UNITED GRINDING Group and GF Machining Solutions unite to form UNITED MACHINING SOLUTIONS. MIKRON MILL becomes an official brand and member. 

2022 - Wet Graphite Machining Solutions 

Introduction of dedicated wet graphite machining solutions for electrode manufacturing.

2022 - MILL P 800 U S — Short Automation Version 

Short version of the MILL P 800 U, optimized for state-of-the-art automation layouts and compact production cells.

2021 - Jig-Grinding Variant

Jig-Grinding variant available on MILL S 600/800 (J) and MILL X (J) series, combining milling and grinding on one platform. 

2020 - AMC & AMC Extended 

Automated Machine Calibration (AMC) and AMC Extended launch across MILL S/X — enabling autonomous on-machine measurement and thermal compensation. 

2015–2020 - New Naming with TNC 640 

Comprehensive renaming: HSM → MILL S, XSM → MILL X, HPM → MILL P 

Includes Machine Spindle Protection, Ambient robust, Smart machine module, and MILL S/X (U) series with TNC 640 control. 

2011–2014 - New Sizes, Tire Mold & Graphite HSM

New sizes for HSM, HPM and XSM, plus dedicated HSM for Tire Mold applications and HSM Graphite.

2008–2010 - Expanded HSM, XSM & HPM Range

Launch of HSM LP series, HSM LP Precision, XSM LP Precision and HPM HD — covering a broader spectrum of precision requirements. 

2006–2007 - HSM ProdMod, ProdMed Dental & UCP 600

Launch of HSM ProdMod and ProdMed Dental for medical manufacturing, alongside UCP 600 Vario Torque and Vario ProdMed.

2003–2006 - HPM Machine Range

Market launch of the new HPM (High Performance Machining) range, addressing demanding applications with exceptional rigidity.

2002–2004 - Metal Working Production Award & XSM Launch

Mikron wins the Metal Working Production Award and launches the XSM first generation.

2001 - Universal HSM with 5-Axis Simultaneous Machining

Mikron introduces the new universal HSM machines including 5-axis simultaneous machining — a breakthrough for complex part geometries.

2000 - GF AgieCharmilles Acquires Mikron

GF AgieCharmilles acquires Mikron Machining Technology and becomes number 2 in high-speed machining worldwide.

1996 - HSM 700 — World's First HSM Machining Center 

Mikron launches the HSM 700: the first real high-speed machining center and the first industrially manufactured machining center in the world with an axial acceleration of 1G. 

1992 - Mikron Machining Technology Division 

Creation of the dedicated Mikron Machining Technology Division, formalizing the company's strategic focus on advanced machining solutions. 

1961–1992 - Expansion Into Milling 

Mikron gradually expanded into new areas including milling machines — notably the WF1 in 1966 — laying technical groundwork for future machining leadership. 

1960 - Creation of Mikron in Biel

Mikron was founded in Biel, Switzerland, playing a key role in the industrialization of the Swiss watchmaking industry with precision gear-cutting machines and tools.
